A skin tag, or acrochordon (pl. acrochorda), is a small beneficial tumor that forms primarily in areas where the skin forms creases (or rubs together), such every bit the cervix, armpit and groin. They may as well occur on the face, commonly on the eyelids. Though tags up half an inch (12.7 mm) long have been seen,^[2] they are typically the size of a grain of rice. The surface of an acrochordon may exist smooth or irregular in appearance and is often raised from the surface of the skin on a fleshy stalk called a peduncle. Microscopically, an acrochordon consists of a fibrovascular cadre, sometimes besides with fat cells, covered past an unremarkable epidermis. Treatment [edit]

If removal is desired or warranted, it can be achieved by a dermatologist, full general practitioner or similarly trained professional who may use cauterization, cryosurgery, excision, light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation, or surgical ligation to remove the acrochorda.^[two] ^[x] Varied habitation remedies are also available, just most are unproven and some (e.g. tea tree oil) may cause allergic pare reactions.^[ten]
